The greatest kite trip ever!
not really – rubbish wind – but a good time none the less.
some pics – Thong Chai – nice beach that would work well in an easterly, maybe north easterly/south easterly too though i’m not sure how big the thermals get. Plenty of 600baht accommodation though not really any bars.
Bang Saphan noi – beautiful beautiful beach that would work well in a north easterly, maybe south easterly too though again i’m not sure how big the thermals get. It’s a massive bay so the water would be flattish though maybe gusty. Very pretty 500baht accommodation though it’s miles off the tourist/bus routes. No bars or restaurants – take your own pot noodles!
Koh Samui – amazingly beautiful spot at samui orchid aquarium – shallow sandy lagoon. with the right wind direction (Southerly to North Easterly) it would be amazing! just no wind while we were there. So we went up to the north of the island – Maenam beach. Another beautiful beach, plenty of 6/700baht accommodation, a few good bars (Chill out cafe!) and restaurants. But again no wind – i’m told we were unlucky – “you should have been here last week!”. quite. But had a great time meeting the guys from Kiteboardingsamui.com They’re great guys! If you go to samui, say hi to them for me!
Ranong – big big beach, beautiful smooth breakers coming in – just (guess what) no wind!!….. Only 1 place to stay at on the beach – paradise resort. Very peaceful beautiful place and very kind owners, only 500baht for the fan room, and you can have a fire on the beach if you like. Beautiful!! I’d love to try it with some good wind – North Westerly to South Westerly would work. The waves would be fantastic!
Chumporn – beautiful beach, crystal white sand. Not very long and hooks a bit at north and south so would be a bit gusty in the north easterly, but still good. South easterly maybe ok, if the thermals come in, though i think they’re more dependable in huahin/pranburi. Supposed to be a flat water spot a short boat ride out, i’ll have to come back in the season. Guess what when we were there – all together – no wind!!
