We usually try to do the full beginner's course in 3 consecutive days but if you like, we can split it into 2 weekends. That gives you time to get up on the board and a day after the course to practice. 2 weekends and you could be a kitesurfer!!
Note: Lessons start when the wind starts – from November until January that's in the morning (approx 9am start), and February until June it's in the afternoon. (approx 1pm start)

We start by checking you understand basic theory of wind and wind problems.
Then we set up a small trainer kite and fly it on the beach for 30-40mins.
When you are comfortable flying a trainer kite we set up a big, inflatable kite for use in the water. We take you through all the safety systems and make sure you know exactly how to connect the lines properly.
We launch the kite and walk into the water before handing over to you for maximum safety.
After a short time getting used to the bigger kite you'll start to use the kite to move around in the water – know as bodysurfing or bodydragging. We'll spend at least an hour zooming around doing this. It's very important your kite skills are good before we put a board on your feet – there's a lot to think about when you're trying to waterstart so if you can fly the kite without thinking about it too much you will get up and keep riding much quicker.
So what happens if you have a problem out at sea? You can use the kite as a sail to pull you back to the beach – know as the self-rescue. If a boat comes out to rescue you you have to packdown the kite in the water. We'll show you exactly how to do both of these today and then tomorrow you'll get to do it yourself. We all learn by doing!
To finish off the day we show you how to pack away your equipment properly and then talk about what we'll do the next day so you can think about it overnight.

We start the day by checking you understand water and water problems
Then we let you set up the kite on your own – but of course we'll help you if you can't remember some things.
We head into the water to refresh yesterday's bodysurfing exercises then move on to more advanced bodysurfing including getting back upwind in case we lose the board in the water.
If that all goes to plan we'll head back to the beach and pick up a board. We go through the stance you'll need on the board and then back onto the water to try it out! The waterstart is the most difficult part of learning to kitesurf so don't worry if you don't get it straight away. You will! It only takes time on the water.
We finish off today by giving you some practice at the self rescue and packdown. It's easy to watch not so easy to do! But you have to know how to in case you have a problem out at sea.
Lastly we pack away the equipment and then talk about what we learnt today and what we need to work on for tomorrow.

We start the day by recapping wind and water dangers and a brief talk about equipment selection.
Then back into the water! It's good to start by refreshing your upwind bodysurfing and maybe some launching and landing practice.
Then an intensive session working on board skills. We'll come across all kinds of problems on the way so we just work through them and you become an experienced kitesurfer really quickly!
If you get up and riding easily we can work on turns, and riding upwind.
We finish off the course by analysing your strengths and weaknesses and suggesting things to practice and also suggesting equipment that would be suitable for you. We also go through what not to buy on ebay!
